The new year is here – Happy 2018 everyone! With the new year comes new goals and two of the most common New Year’s resolutions we all hear is, “I want to eat healthier” or “I want to lose weight.” Words can only go so far…to stick with these resolutions you have to keep motivated! Personally, I know that I am determined for about a month or so and then I revert back to my old ways. To help myself and all of you who have the same goals as me, I have found 4 different phone apps to download that are available 24/7 to help us achieve our goals!
I have had this app on my phone for quite some time now and I love it! This app is FREE but you are able to upgrade to a premium account to unlock exclusive features. MyFitnessPal is a platform to track diet and exercise and calculates optimal caloric intake and nutrients based on users’ personal goals. Studies have shown that keeping a food diary is one of the best methods to aid your weight loss journey, which makes this app ideal! MyFitnessPal also provides simple exercises, healthy recipes, and an online community to share your journey with. One of the best parts about this app is that it is extremely simple to use – even my dad was able to figure it out on his own and was able to shed some weight!
FitBreak is an awesome app created by Weight Watchers. It gives users short workouts to imitate for 60 second periods. The exercises provided can be done anywhere – even at your desk at work! The exercises are simple to do and there is a tutorial provided with each new exercise. Bonus: if you are a Weight Watcher member and have an account, your FitBreak activity will be automatically reflected on your Weight Watchers account.

Nike+ Training Club is like your own personal trainer in your pocket! This app features workouts that have been designed by professional athletes and celebrities. Each workout focuses on strength, endurance, or mobility that offer three levels of difficulty. Most importantly, the app provides audio cues which allows users to focus on the workout and ensure they are using proper form, rather than looking at the phone screen.
