Spring has sprung! With warmer weather on its way (for us in the north), now is the perfect time to start thinking about how you can get out and enjoy it!

Science has proven that getting out in nature reduces blood pressure, reduces cortisol levels, and can help ward off depression, among other benefits! As little as 5 minutes can make a difference in improving your mood.

“Look Deep into Nature, and then you

will understand everything better.”

– Albert Einstein

What is grounding?

Grounding (or earthing) is the practice of physically connecting yourself to the earth in order to gain energy from the ground. It may sound a little far-out but the earth and humans are made of energy! Connecting back with the earth can have a calming and healing effect on our bodies.

As written by Dr. Stephen Sinatra, This energy infusion is powerful stuff. It can restore and stabilize the bioelectrical circuitry that governs your physiology and organs, harmonize your basic biological rhythms, boost self-healing mechanisms, reduce inflammation and pain, and improve your sleep and feeling of calmness. When these things happen, you feel better in a big way.

So how do you do it?

Get outside! Take off your shoes, walk or lay in the grass… it may feel silly at first, but you will notice the difference. I know I did!

It’s important in this day and age to remember our connection with nature, to let our children learn and enjoy the outdoors. Check out your local parks and conservation areas, go camping or cottaging, and breathe that fresh air! You will be happy you did.
