Happy Thanksgiving Canada! I try to be grateful everyday, but Thanksgiving is special because we all focus on being grateful together. I am blessed with two wonderful children, a supportive husband, a successful business, and great friends. I started thinking about the additional millions of little blessings, which although obscure, I am also grateful for!

Here are just a few of my extra blessings for which I am grateful:

  1. Jobs I do not have to do:

I am thankful to all the people who do the jobs that many of us would never want to have. You know who they are, the ones who clean up the theatre floor at the movies, the guy who has to dress up as the Serta Mattress Sheep, the folks who safely secure all the new Christmas toys so that it takes an hour to get that Barbie out, the “pooper-scooper” you hired to clean up your backyard because it is too gross for you to attempt! I give thanks to all of you for making our lives just a little easier and hope you get paid very well for your services!

2. Bathrooms:

Despite our children’s wishes, it’s nice to know there’s a place to go where we can be alone with our thoughts. The bathroom is the place I get most of my reading done, where I sometimes Tweet, where my best ideas come to life and where I can truly be by myself. Lets just say I spend a lot of time in the bathroom!

3. Google:

It is shocking how few answers I truly know to the variety of questions my kids ask me every day! Why are bricks so heavy? Why is water wet? How do they make Scotch tape? Why is the moon sometimes out in the day too? Why don’t all the fish die when lightening hits the water? Thank goodness for Google. My kids think I am the smartest parent around!

4. Reality TV:

I have never dressed any of my children in flashy costumes, dyed their hair, bleached their teeth, or spray tanned them. The moms on Toddlers & Tiaras set the bar for good parenting really low. No judgement here but yes, it makes me feel better about myself as a parent.

5. Getting older:

I certainly don’t like the wrinkles or the grey hair that comes along with getting older, nor do I like the fact that my eyes have the potential to get worse (I better start checking out https://sharpe-vision.com/testimonials/ just in case laser eye surgery is in my future), but there are certainly some advantages such as, you no longer feel the need to be thought of as cool, kidnappers are not very interested in you, you know what the word “equity” means, the clothes you’ve put away until they come back in style…come back in style. The one I like best is that now that I am older I am wiser – or least I’d like to think so!

So there you have it – my five, unusual, ridiculous, but honest reasons to be thankful.

Do you have a reason that you are extra thankful for?
