Clean with the music on. It makes cleaning fun and not feel like work!!!

1. Clean the fridge & replace the baking soda
2. check the spices, replace the ones you have not used for awhile
3. rent a wet vac or hire a company to really clean your carpets
4. purge & donate clothes you have not worn
5. Clean my windows – use newspapers or flyer instead of paper towel

Hire someone to clean the house!

Do one room, even one area of one room, at a time to avoid unfinished jobs. The satisfaction of seeing one room sparkle will make the hard work feel like it’s worth the effort.

Here are a few basic eco friendly “recipes” I use:
Glass: Mix 1/4 cup vinegar with 1 quart of water in a spray bottle. Spray on glass and wipe clean with old newspaper or a lint-free cloth.

Countertops and bathroom tile: Mix 2 parts vinegar and 1 part baking soda with 4 parts water. Apply with a sponge, scour, and wipe away.

Floors: Mix 4 cups of white distilled vinegar with about a gallon of hot water. If desired, add a few drops of pure peppermint or lemon oil for a pleasant scent. After damp mopping the floors, the smell of vinegar will dissipate quickly, leaving behind only the scent of the oil.

Wood furniture: Mix equal parts of lemon juice and olive and oil. Apply a small amount to a cloth, and rub onto the furniture in long, even strokes.

We are in March now, pretty soon it will be June, and those of us teachers have to start now with the organization/”classroom spring cleaning.” Pick up some of the slimline labels and use them on your classroom pencils (especially if you teach in middle school) — somehow all my pencils disappear.

Parents of Kids going off to camp: Now is the time to start labeling everything (even shoes). I’m 23 years old and while I was in college (I labeled all my shoes) —girls like to share (especially if you are in a sorority).

I personally like to clean with the TV on, it makes everything go by much faster.

PURGE/DONATE what you don’t need to GoodWill

Make a list and check off each thing you want to clean one at a time. Feels good to check off items once they have been cleaned to your satisfaction.

I make lists too when I”m cleaning. It feels good to have those checks at the end of the day! I also try to pick one room a week and give that one a ‘spring’ clean so it’s not so overwhelming to me all at once.

Don’t tackle everything at one…it will get overwhelming. Also, take a break and enjoy a small treat.

Make a list

Donate/Throw out what dosent fit or isint needed anymore.

Dont forget base boards, closet corners, and all those little spaces that dont regularly get clean.

Clean one room at a time

I use vinegar and newspaper to clean my windows and glass for a streak free shine.
I donate my clothes and other items to the Diabetes Society.

Believe it or not, my best cleaning tip came from my father who is 79. I was complaining about getting streaks while washing windows. It probably came from his mother, who was lived in the hills of upstate NY.

Here is the tip and it WORKS, REALLY!!!!

A bucket, warm water and CORNSTARCH, a little bit of cornstarch, enough to make the water milky. One papertown, cloth to apply and then another I use papertowel to try, and the windows are crystal clear. Sometimes a little elbow grease.

Cheap, no fumes!

don’t do it all at once! set the timer for 30 minutes- you would be amazed what you can do in 30 uninterrupted minutes! and space it out! its OK!

This time of year I concentrate on cleaning a complete room thoroughly each week instead of a quick run through of my whole house. I move furniture to clean baseboards, reorganzie closets and freshen up whole room.

Get the whole family involved! It goes done a lot faster.

get the kids involved!
