Thinking about what to get your child’s teacher to thank them for a great school year? We asked real teachers what they like (and don’t like!). Here’s a hint – Did somebody say gift card?!

Here’s the Top 5:

1. Mall and Book Store Gift Cards

Who doesn’t like a gift card? It’s an excuse to shop, and you know you will like what you end up with – because you chose it! Well, teachers are no different. Sending them shopping is a great way to reward you favourite teacher.

2. Luxurious Bath Soaps and Candles

We can only imagine that a long day of noisy and active children would deserve a long soak at the end of the day. Try the all-natural, paraben and phthalate-free variety for bonus points!

3. Restaurant and Movie Gift Cards

Date night never felt so good – especially when paid for by your favourite student!

4. Liquor Store Gift Cards

Know your teacher is a wine connoisseur but don’t want to send your child into class with a bottle? Here’s your chance to let your teacher do the pickings.

5. Personalized Labels

A little biased you say? It’s a fact! Teachers love to stay organized, decorate their classrooms with cute things – and of course have all the latest stationary and supplies. Personalizing labels with your teacher’s name allows them to mark their staplers, favourite pens, and more, while saying “hands off, it’s mine!” in the cutest way possible. Try “Return to Mrs. Smith” “Property of Mrs. Smith” or just plain “Mrs. Smith.” (insert shameless plug here) We have to let you know that we think Lovable Labels has the best labels for teachers of course!

So what are the less-appealing gifts? Sadly, chocolate and “teacher” knick knacks were mentioned as not so desirable. While we at Lovable Labels can’t understand why chocolate is on the no-no list, we can see how it could get repetitive coming from 30 kids!

Last but not least, don’t forget to ask your kids what colours and designs their teacher might like! You’d be surprised how well they know their teacher, and how excited they will get to help you pick out their gift!
