3 Fun Fall Craft Ideas
Fall…my favourite season, is finally here. To get into the fall spirit try out these 3 fun fall craft ideas! I have gathered a list of 3 simple and inexpensive craft ideas that are great for the classroom or at home to keep the kiddos busy this fall season.
Here is a quick and easy suncatcher that you can make with the fallen leaves around you.
What you’ll need:
- Transparent contact paper (sticky-back plastic)
- Fresh leaves
Instructions:
- Cut off a rectangular piece of contact paper
- Fold the contact paper in half, then pull the paper covering off of the fold, exposing half of the sticky plastic
- Arrange your leaves on the sticky contact paper and press them down to adhere to the paper
- When you are happy with your design, remove the rest of the paper backing and fold it over the leaves and press down (try your best to avoid air bubbles)
- Hang in a sunny window with tape or tie a ribbon to hang it
This is a great craft to bring out your child’s creativity!
What you’ll need:
- Apples
- Orange paint
- Green paint
- Paint brushes
- Knife
- White paper
Instructions
- (Leave this step for the adults) Cut your apples in half and dry the inside and outside with a paper towel
- On a paper plate, squirt some orange paint and green paint (do not mix)
- Using the inside of the apple as a stamp, dip it in the orange paint (make sure it is completely covered in paint) and then stamp it on your white paper
- Use a paint brush and paint a leaf and stem out of the top of your pumpkins with green paint
- Let the paint dry
- (Optional) Once the paint is dry, you can use a permanent marker to draw faces on the pumpkins
Handprint and Footprint Turkey
This one is a great way to show off your child’s artwork to your Thanksgiving guests! Heads up: things can get a little messy.
What you’ll need:
- Red, yellow, orange and brown craft paint
- Paint brushes
- Red and orange craft paper
- Googly eyes
- Craft paper
- Scissors
- Glue
Instructions:
- Cover child’s hand with yellow paint and have them firmly press their hand on the paper – repeat with red and orange paint, having them place their palm around the same spot to make the turkeys feathers
- Cover child’s foot with brown paint and their toes with orange paint and press their foot firmly onto a separate piece of paper – set footprint aside to dry
- Cut around the handprints and footprint
- Cut a red waddle (tear drop shape) and a yellow beak (triangle) and glue them and a googly eye onto the heel side of the footprint to make the turkey’s face
- Glue handprints (feathers) to the back of the footprint
